The real settlement began in 1886 when Welsh immigrants, Italian and Spanish built the railway that connects Madryn with the City of Trelew. In the old railway station (from1889), which was recycled conserving the original structure, the bus station works nowadays.
Punta Cuevas is the place of first settlement. Today you can visit the ruins of the excavations for housing.
